Updated over a week ago

Linkody’s reports display detailed data for every backlink, helping you assess link quality, track progress, and prioritize outreach. This article explains all the metrics you’ll find in these reports, as well as the possible statuses a link can have and what they mean.

Link metrics

Each link in Linkody includes a range of SEO and technical metrics to help you analyze its impact and relevance:

Link attributes

  • Anchor text — The clickable text of the link. Ideally, anchor text should be descriptive and relevant to the target page.

  • Rel attribute — Indicates link type: follow, nofollow, sponsored, or UGC. A balanced mix of follow and nofollow links is natural and helps avoid over-optimization.

  • Source page (title + URL) — The referring page where the link is placed. Contextually relevant pages tend to pass more SEO value.

  • Target page URL — The landing page on your site the link points to. Ensure it aligns with your keyword and topic strategy.

SEO metrics

  • Domain Authority (DA) — Moz’s metric predicting a domain’s ability to rank. Higher DA suggests stronger link equity. Learn more about DA

  • Page Authority (PA) — Moz’s metric predicting a specific page’s ability to rank. Learn more about PA

  • MozRank — A score of the page’s link popularity, indicating how much link equity it passes. About MozRank

  • Spam Score — The probability (from Moz) that the domain might get penalized by Google. A lower score is better, but even high-score domains are not necessarily penalized. About Spam Score

  • EFL (External Followed Links) — The number of followed external links on the referring page. Lower EFL can mean more value passed per link.

  • Google index status — Whether the referring page is indexed in Google. Pages not indexed are unlikely to pass value. This status is updated every 14 days and may rarely show false negatives (👉 for dedicated indexing checks, use IndexCheckr).

  • Tranco Rank — The global popularity of the domain (lower = more popular). Popular domains are generally more trusted by search engines.

Technical details

  • IP address & country — Where the referring site is hosted. Useful to assess the geographic diversity of your link profile.

  • TLD (Top-level domain) — The domain extension, such as .com, .org, .co.uk. Having diverse TLDs can signal natural link acquisition.

  • Link type — Whether it’s a text or image link. Text links usually pass more SEO relevance.

  • Last live date — The most recent date the link was confirmed as live, so you can spot stale or lost links.

Link statuses

Each link has a status that indicates whether it is live and matches your expectations. Here are the possible statuses you may see:

  • OK — The link is present and matches the expected landing page, anchor, and rel if specified.

  • LNF (Link Not Found) — The link is missing and may need follow-up.

  • ⚠️ 404, 500, etc. — The source page returns an HTTP error (like 404 Not Found or 500 Server Error), meaning no value passes.

  • ⚠️ WLP (Wrong Landing Page) — The link is present but points to the wrong page on your site.

  • ⚠️ WR (Wrong Rel) — The link is present but has a different rel attribute than expected.

  • ⚠️ WA (Wrong Anchor) — The link is present but the anchor text is not as expected.

  • ⚠️ LPE (Landing Page Error) — The link points to a landing page on your site that no longer exists. See Monitoring your landing pages.

  • ⚠️ IC (Invalid Content) — The referring page is not valid HTML, and Linkody cannot analyze it.

  • ⚠️ SU (Site Unreachable) — The source site was unreachable when checked, so the link could not be verified.

  • ⚠️ NI (NoIndex) — The referring page is excluded from indexing in Google, reducing SEO value.

These statuses help you quickly spot broken links, incorrect configurations, or opportunities to fix and reclaim link value.

Summary

Linkody’s reports provide all the critical data you need to evaluate your backlinks and those of your competitors effectively. By understanding the meaning of each metric and its implications for SEO, you can prioritize actions that improve your link profile, strengthen your authority, and protect your rankings.
