Tags in Linkody let you categorize and manage your backlinks more efficiently. Whether you're grouping links by outreach campaign, link type, or priority level, tags help keep things organized.

The Tags report

The Tags report lists all the tags assigned to your links, either for a specific domain or across all domains, depending on the selected scope. Next to each tag, you’ll see the number of links associated with it.

Clicking on a number displays all the links that share that tag, making it easy to review, analyze, or take action on a specific group of backlinks.

Display options

The Tags report can be viewed in two formats:

  • Table view: Shows tags in a structured table with link counts and actions.

  • Compact (pills) view: Displays tags as clickable pills for a more visual, condensed layout.

You can switch between the two using the dropdown at the top right of the report.

Tag actions

Each tag has a gear icon with a dropdown menu. From this menu, you can:

  • Show links with this tag

  • Show links without this tag

  • Edit the tag name

  • Delete the tag

Deleting a tag removes it from all associated links, but does not delete the links themselves.

Scope options

  • You can view tags and their associated links for a single domain, allowing you to focus on that site’s link structure.

  • Alternatively, you can see tags used across your entire account. This is useful for agency users managing multiple domains.

How to tag links

You can tag links directly from the Links Report in two ways:

  • Individually: Use the tag icon on the right side of each link row. If the link already has tags, the icon appears solid. Clicking it opens an overlay to edit or add tags. If the link has no tags, the icon is outlined—clicking it opens an overlay to add one or several tags.

    Edit tags menu

  • In bulk: Select multiple links using the checkboxes on the left side of the report. Once selected, a dropdown menu appears. Choose “Add tags” to open an overlay where you can assign one or more tags to all selected links at once.

Global tag sharing setting

In the global settings, there is a "Share tags between domains" switch. When enabled, tag autocompletion and visibility are shared across all domains. This helps maintain a unified tagging system, especially useful for agencies or users with multiple sites.

Summary

Tags offer a flexible way to structure and manage your backlink portfolio. Use them to track link building campaigns, flag issues, or group links by relevance or strategy.
